Kakum National park visit was followed by Cape Coast Castle then Elmina Castle. I learned a great deal about the slave trade, especially the procedure and conditions through which both men and women slaves went through before they boarded on ships that took them far away from their home lands to the Americas. It was disturbing to learn about the inhumane conditions they went through, to stand in the structures that witnessed such cruelties, yet it was at the same time worth it and necessary. It is worth it to have The Cape Coast and Elmina castles, and any other structures of the same kind that played a role in slavery standing today because alone, they speak as their own witnesses and are a reminder of humanity’s injustice against humanity.
