Week 10: LaKia

We did not have lab this week, so we spent our time getting in our last bit of traveling. We went to Kenting and enjoyed the South Beach, which was beautiful! The waves were very powerful, so there were a lot of surfers out in the water. Because the waves were so powerful, we weren’t able to swim out in the water, like we can in Cijin. But we were still able to sit in the water near the shower. We also went to Tainan and visited a Confucian Temple and the Blueprint Cultural Center.

Gabe and I in Kenting

As our time in Taiwan has been coming to an end, I have been excited to return to campus at Tulane. But as our departure date nears, I am less excited about leaving. I’ve had an incredible time in Taiwan! While it has had its ups and downs, this experience has, overall, been a life changing opportunity. I am very grateful to SDSU and MHIRT for giving me this opportunity, as well as my cohort members for making this trip so memorable! I have made friends from all over the world, including the UK, Russia, India, Pakistan, and the Caribbeans. Being able to have this wonderful experience has allowed me to look back on career as a student and really appreciate all the people and programs that inadvertently allowed me to do research this summer in Taiwan.
