I have to admit, I was worried about what I was going to eat while in Uganda. I am not an adventurous eater, and I usually stick to eating the same things, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I had also heard that the meat sticks here were amazing, but I feared how they would affect me.
I quickly realized that everyone kept steering me to the Uganda version of American food, and honestly it isn’t that satisfying. And then I got to experience the real deal in local fare. I love the LOCAL food!! Chicken stew with Irish potatoes and rice is my favorite dish!! It makes my mouth water just thinking about it. I also love chicken luwambo with greens and matoke smothered in g-nut sauce. It is sooo good! I have also tried and enjoyed: a pork lunch, goat meat on a stick, posho, and a rolex (chipati with egg).
No matter where you go, you won’t starve! You will quickly figure out what there is to eat and how to come by it.
